Size

Medium size between 10 - 15 centimetres and weighs 100 - 200 g. Can grow to more than 20.0 cm in length. Does not grow to very big size.

Morphology

Presence of black dots at the caudal fin. Body, silverish black.

Biology

Mode of reproduction is not known. Feeds on algae and smaller plants

Distribution

Found mainly in rivers and their tributaries

Economic Importance

In the fresh form it is less valuable. Tastes better when it is dried. No potential value, perhaps potential for aquarium fish trade. Cannot be caught using fishing rods as they do not take live bait.
