Morphology

Body elongated and sharply compressed with the mouth directed upwards. Colour, silverish white and scales are small.

Biology

Mode of reproduction not known. Diet consists mainly of insects, algae and soft aquatic plants.

Distribution

Found mainly in the river mouth and littoral areas

Economic Importance

Not readily accepted by the locals due its bony nature. May have potential if it is dried and salted.
